Beyond Beauty: Sarah Chidzeli’s Inspiring Journey of Purpose, Power, and Runway Excellence

At just 20, Sarah Chidzeli is emerging as a powerful voice in Kenya’s modeling scene, blending beauty, purpose, and authenticity. A five-time titleholder, actress, and nutritionist, she uses her platform not only to showcase creativity but also to advocate for elderly nutrition and wellbeing. Her journey reflects resilience, growth, and a deep passion for inspiring others through both fashion and meaningful impact.

We had an opportunity for a brief blog interview, read and get a glimpse into Sarah's word;

Q&A with Sarah Chidzeli: Passion, Purpose, and the Power of Modeling

Q1: Who are you, and how would you describe yourself as a model?
A: I am Sarah Chidzeli, a 20-year-old Duruma, a proud Christian, a passionate model, and a 5-time titleholder. Beyond modeling, I am also an actress and a nutritionist by profession, which allows me to blend creativity with purpose in everything I do.

As a model, I would describe myself as versatile, expressive, and purpose-driven. I don’t just focus on appearance—I use my platform to tell meaningful stories, inspire confidence, and represent authenticity.

My advocacy focuses on elderly nutrition. During my exposure in hospitals, I have seen many elderly individuals being left out, especially when it comes to proper nutrition and care. This affects not only their physical health but also their mental and emotional wellbeing. Through my voice and platform, I aim to raise awareness and promote dignity, care, and a better quality of life for them.

Q2: How did your journey into modeling begin?
A: My journey into modeling has always been a childhood dream, but in high school, I was too afraid to pursue it. In Form 4, I gathered the courage to speak to Wairimu Mungai, who encouraged me by saying it’s never too late to start, but I could begin seriously when I got to university.

When I joined university, I met Wish Ngina in 2024, who taught me the fundamentals of modeling. That’s when I officially started my journey. It wasn’t easy, but through determination and hard work, I made it. Today, I continue to grow and refine my craft, hoping to inspire others to pursue their dreams too.

Q3: What inspired you to pursue modeling in Kenya?
A: I was inspired by my childhood dream of expressing creativity and confidence. My role model, Wairimu Mungai, encouraged me to pursue modeling, and when I joined university, Wish Ngina taught me the fundamentals. Other role models, like Lindsey Zawadi, also motivated me by showing what’s possible in the Kenyan fashion industry.

Modeling inspires me to tell stories, empower others, and use my platform for impact.

Q4: What type of modeling do you enjoy the most?
A: I enjoy runway modeling the most because it allows me to showcase confidence, elegance, and presence while expressing creativity through movement. I also love fashion and editorial modeling, as they give me the opportunity to tell stories and convey emotion through my expressions and style.

Q5: What are some challenges you’ve faced in your modeling career, and how did you overcome them?
A: Some of the biggest challenges I’ve faced include fear and self-doubt, criticism, and fake promises.

I overcame fear and self-doubt by believing in myself, practicing consistently, and learning from my mentors. Criticism taught me to take feedback positively, focus on self-improvement, and stay confident. As for fake promises, I’m still learning to navigate them, but I remain careful, trust my instincts, and focus on creating real opportunities for myself.

Q6: Outside of modeling, what are your hobbies or passions?
A: I love walking and exploring nature, which helps me relax and stay inspired. I also have a strong passion for acting, as it allows me to express creativity, build confidence, and tell stories.

Additionally, I enjoy participating in community projects, because giving back and helping others brings me joy and purpose.

Q7: What advice would you give to young aspiring models in Kenya?
A: I would advise young aspiring models to believe in themselves, embrace their uniqueness, and never give up. Modeling can be challenging and competitive, but staying authentic, disciplined, and open to learning from mentors will take you far.

Every experience is a stepping stone, so keep pushing forward and use your platform to inspire and uplift others.

From Pizza to Pasta: How Italian Cuisine Won Africa’s Heart

Italian cuisine has found a warm and enthusiastic home across Africa, with dishes like Pizza and Pasta leading the way in popularity. From bustling urban centers to coastal tourist hubs, these classics have become staples on menus, loved for their rich flavors, comforting textures, and versatility. Their widespread appeal is largely driven by the rise of top-rated traditional Italian restaurants in major cities, where both locals and visitors seek authentic yet accessible dining experiences.

Among the most beloved options is Margherita Pizza, known for its simple yet flavorful combination of tomato, mozzarella, and fresh basil. Its familiarity makes it a favorite for many first-time Italian food lovers. Similarly, pasta dishes from creamy Alfredo to hearty Bolognese offer something for every palate. Dishes like Lasagna, with its rich layers of meat, cheese, and sauce, and Risotto, celebrated for its creamy texture and depth of flavor, are increasingly popular across the continent.

In countries like South Africa, Kenya, and Ghana, trattoria-style establishments have played a key role in shaping how Italian cuisine is experienced. These restaurants emphasize relaxed, family-friendly dining, often blending authentic recipes with local ingredients and tastes. The result is a unique fusion that feels both international and familiar.

As African cities continue to grow and diversify, Italian cuisine remains a constant favorite. Its ability to adapt while maintaining its core identity ensures that dishes like pizza and pasta will continue to bring people together around the table.

Natural Flu Relief: Simple Organic Remedies to Stay Healthy During the Cold and Rainy Season

During the rainy and cold season, flu symptoms tend to rise, leaving many feeling fatigued, congested, and uncomfortable. While medical treatment is important when symptoms are severe, many people turn to quick, organic natural remedies to ease mild flu symptoms and support recovery.

One of the most effective remedies is warm herbal tea. Ingredients like ginger, lemon, and honey work together to soothe the throat, reduce inflammation, and boost immunity. Ginger has natural antiviral properties, while honey helps calm coughs and adds a comforting sweetness.

Steam inhalation is another simple but powerful method. Adding eucalyptus oil or fresh herbs like mint to hot water and inhaling the steam helps open nasal passages, relieve congestion, and make breathing easier. This remedy is especially helpful before bedtime.

Garlic is also widely known for its immune-boosting qualities. Adding raw or lightly cooked garlic to meals can help the body fight off infections faster. Similarly, turmeric mixed in warm milk provides anti-inflammatory benefits and helps the body relax and heal.

Staying hydrated is essential during flu season. Drinking plenty of warm water, soups, and fresh fruit juices keeps the body nourished and helps flush out toxins. Fruits rich in vitamin C, such as oranges and lemons, can support the immune system.

Rest is equally important. Giving your body enough time to recover allows the immune system to function effectively. Combining these natural remedies with proper rest can speed up recovery and reduce discomfort.

While these organic solutions can help manage symptoms, it’s important to seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen over time for safety.
